Star Wars in 2026: Jedi Saga, Ahsoka’s Return, and Mando on the Big Screen
Three major releases are hitting screens and theaters — and fans can look forward to familiar heroes and new mysteries in a galaxy far, far away.
If you thought lightsabers, Sith Lords, and hunchbacked sidekicks had had enough screen time, think again. 2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for the Star Wars universe, with three ambitious projects expanding the galaxy on both streaming platforms and the silver screen — with something for animation enthusiasts, nostalgic prequel fans, and Mando junkies alike.
The Ninth Jedi Returns – and Becomes Its Own Series
One of the most anticipated projects is Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi, based on the popular episode from season one of the anthology series Star Wars: Visions. Before the full spin-off series premieres in 2026, we’ll get a direct follow-up titled Child of Hope — an episode from season 3 arriving in October 2025.
The story of Kara and Jedi Master Juro continues here, and according to director Kenji Kamiyama, the new series format will feature longer episodes and deeper character development — especially focused on the mystery behind the color-shifting lightsabers forged by Kara’s father.

Ahsoka Returns — and So Does Anakin
Big things are also happening in live-action. Season two of Ahsoka is officially in production, with Rosario Dawson returning as the former Jedi and Rebel veteran. The series continues the narrative of characters and conflicts from Star Wars: Rebels, with several familiar faces reprising their roles: Mary Elizabeth Winstead as General Hera Syndulla, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren — and perhaps most notably, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.
How Skywalker will be integrated into the story remains unknown, but with force ghosts, flashbacks, and alternate realities on the table, anything is possible. The series is expected to premiere sometime in 2026.
Mando & Grogu Go Blockbuster
The final — and possibly biggest — highlight of 2026 is the theatrical debut of The Mandalorian & Grogu, set to premiere on May 22, 2026. The film marks a natural progression of the beloved Disney+ series, transitioning the titular duo from the streaming format into the heart of the cinematic canon.
Pedro Pascal returns in the lead role, and we’re introduced to new characters like Rotto the Hutt, played by Jeremy Allen White, and Sigourney Weaver in a still-secret role that’s already fueling fan speculation.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film is widely expected to weave together multiple threads from the TV universe — including Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew.
In short, 2026 is shaping up to be a banner year for Star Wars — packed with Jedi mythology, character comebacks, and big-screen ambitions.
For those who love the deeper layers of the universe — and those who just want to watch Grogu lift things with the power of the mind — there’s plenty to look forward to.
