Breaking: Grand Theft Auto VI Delayed – New Release Date Set for May 2026

The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI just got longer. In an official statement, Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA VI is now scheduled to launch on May 26, 2026.

“Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.”

This sets the release exactly one year later than many fans had speculated since the game’s first trailer dropped in December 2023 and ignited the internet.

Rockstar: “We Want to Exceed Your Expectations”

Rockstar openly acknowledges fans’ disappointment. In their statement, the studio wrote:

“We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team.”

The developer emphasizes that, as always, the goal is to exceed expectations — and that additional time is needed to deliver the level of quality players deserve:

“With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception.”

Reaction: Disappointment – But Understanding

The delay doesn’t come as a total surprise. Several industry analysts had already warned that the scale and ambition of GTA VI could lead to a later release than originally anticipated.

The game is already being called the most expensive game project of all time, and it’s expected to become a cultural landmark once released.

More Info on the Way

Rockstar assures fans that more details are coming soon. The statement concludes:

“We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.”

Speculation is already mounting that a new trailer or gameplay reveal may be on the horizon in late 2025 — possibly tied to one of the summer’s major gaming events.

Connery.dk will continue to follow the story closely and provide updates as Rockstar reveals more about what awaits in Vice City.
