Ferrari has just unveiled the 296 Speciale, a hardcore version of the already potent 296 GTB. And yes — it’s going to be wild. Following in the tire tracks of legends like the 458 Speciale and 488 Pista, the Speciale is built with one clear purpose: to deliver the most intense and direct driving experience in Ferrari’s current lineup.

Beneath the sculpted bodywork lies a V6 hybrid powertrain pushing out a staggering 880 horsepower — a 50 hp bump over the GTB — paired with a 60-kilogram weight reduction, advanced aerodynamics, and motorsport-derived tech.

“This is the car for the true Ferrarista who wants to feel every twitch of the steering wheel and every gearshift in their spine.”

Light, Low, and Lightning-Fast

The 296 Speciale’s technical setup is radical: a 120° twin-turbo V6 delivers 700 hp on its own, while the electric motor adds up to 180 hp via a new “extra boost” function. The result? A 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of just 2.8 seconds and a top speed exceeding 330 km/h (205+ mph).

But numbers only tell half the story. Ferrari has revised the gearshift strategy, tuned the engine note for maximum in-cabin acoustics, and slashed weight using carbon fiber and titanium. The result is a power-to-weight ratio of just 1.60 kg/hp — the best ever for a rear-wheel-drive Ferrari.

Formula 1 DNA for the Road

Ferrari has borrowed technology from both the Le Mans-winning 499P and the track-dominating 296 Challenge. This includes active aerodynamics, the ABS Evo braking system, and the extra boost strategy — enabling bursts of electric power ideal for track driving.

Downforce has been increased by 20%, and the active rear spoiler now operates in three modes (Low, Medium, and High Drag), providing significantly greater high-speed stability.

Design: More Racer, Less Gentleman

The 296 Speciale is anything but subtle. The redesigned front features deep air intakes, sculpted lines, and functional louvres, while the rear sports added side fins and a striking diffuser. Ferrari also offers a new exclusive paint finish: Verde Nürburgring, complete with classic racing stripes and the option to add your own number.

Inside, everything non-essential has been stripped away. It’s all about function: carbon fiber, Alcantara, exposed bolts, and a driver-focused console. It looks and feels like a GT3 cockpit — because it basically is.
