Star Wars–Style Speeder Bikes Are Now Real—And They Can Fly Over 120 MPH

Freedom in the skies?

If you’ve ever dreamed of zipping through the forest like a Mandalorian or a scout trooper on a speeder bike, it’s time to wake up—because that dream just became a reality.

Polish tech company Volonaut has just unveiled their new Airbike, and it looks like something ripped straight out of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The futuristic vehicle—more prop-like than rideable at first glance—can reportedly fly at speeds of up to 124 miles per hour (around 200 km/h).

And yes—it flies without propellers.

The World’s First Propeller-Free Hoverbike

According to Volonaut, the Airbike is the first personal hoverbike that doesn’t use traditional, visible propellers. Instead, it operates using an advanced stabilization system and a flight computer that keeps the vehicle hovering and balanced—without requiring the pilot to be a trained fighter jet pilot.

“Airbike is a breakthrough in personal aerial mobility,” the company writes on its website. “It’s the realization of an idea we’ve only seen in sci-fi—until now.”

Lightweight, Fast—and Built for the Future

The Airbike is crafted using advanced carbon fiber composites, 3D-printed components, and a minimalist design. The result? It weighs seven times less than a typical motorcycle, making it easier to lift off and maneuver in tight spaces.

Its open frame gives you 360-degree visibility, and the entire design philosophy is to make you feel like one with the machine—a kind of Jedi of the skies.

Volonaut also claims the Airbike is easy to fly and does not require a traditional pilot license (at least in the U.S.). Whether the same will apply in the EU remains to be seen.

What Does Sky-Freedom Cost?

While the Airbike hasn’t hit the market yet—and specs like range and battery capacity remain undisclosed—Volonaut’s founder Tomasz Patan has already seen success with a previous model: the Jetson ONE.

The Jetson ONE is a personal flying machine already available for pre-order for 2027—but the production runs for 2025 and 2026 are sold out. The price? Around DKK 960,000 ($128,000), with a non-refundable $8,000 deposit.

Jetson ONE can reach altitudes of up to 1,500 feet (about 460 meters) and a top speed of 62 mph (100 km/h)—and it also doesn’t require a license in the U.S.

When Can You Get Your Hands on an Airbike?

It’s still unclear when the Airbike will become available to the general public—or whether it’ll be legal to use in Denmark or the rest of Europe. But one thing is certain: the future of flight is here, and the Star Wars speeder bike fantasy is no longer just science fiction.
