PAC-MAN Lights Up Again: PowerA Launches Retro Controller with Hidden Lighting Details
Neon, Nostalgia, and Nintendo in One Package
PowerA has just unveiled its latest—and final—entry in the PAC-MAN x PowerA collaboration with the release of the Enhanced Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch, dubbed the Neon Arcade Edition. This high-tech controller is a colorful tribute to the iconic 1980s PAC-MAN era, but packed with features that meet today’s gaming standards.
What sets the controller apart is PowerA’s Lumectra™ Ghost RGB LED technology, which reveals a hidden PAC-MAN design with four different lighting modes. This allows players to add a visual touch of nostalgia and neon to their gaming setup—without sacrificing performance.
Beyond the eye-catching design, the controller includes advanced features like two mappable advanced gaming buttons, a motion sensor, wireless connectivity, and up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. It is compatible with the standard Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite.
The controller is priced at €69.99 in Europe—around 525 Danish kroner—and is already available in stores and online, including through PowerA.com and Amazon.
This Neon Arcade Edition marks the conclusion of the PAC-MAN x PowerA Collection, which includes three products in total: a Special Edition Xbox controller, a Retro Arcade Protection Case for Nintendo Switch, and the newly announced Wireless Controller for Switch. The collaboration with Bandai Namco, the rights holder of PAC-MAN, has been well received by both collectors and retro gaming fans.
By adding RGB lighting and modern specs, PowerA seems to be aiming to bridge the gap between arcade-era nostalgia and the current demand for technology and customization. The question remains whether the classic PAC-MAN universe has enough appeal to justify the premium price—or if it will ultimately serve primarily as a collector’s item for the most dedicated fans.
